PeachBalance Privacy Policy

Version 1.0, effective July 23, 2026

The short version: the app sends us nothing. PeachBalance has no server, no account system, no analytics, no ads, and no third-party code, and it makes no network connections at all. Everything you put into the app stays on your device. The only ways we ever receive anything from you are the ones you start yourself, like emailing us, and those are described below.

The rest of this policy explains exactly what the app stores on your device, what happens during statement import, and what your rights are. We'd rather over-explain than have you wonder.

Who we are

PeachBalance is developed by Ilia Ghorbanipou, based in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada. For anything in this policy, contact:

This policy describes the app's data practices. The rules for using the app itself are in our Terms of Use.

What the app stores on your device

When you use PeachBalance, the app keeps the following in its own storage on your device:

  • Cards: nicknames, bank and product names, the last four digits of a card number (if you enter them), statement dates, credit limits, and payment networks. The app never asks for, and has no field for, a full card number, CVV, or online banking credentials.
  • Statements: balances, due dates, minimum payments, fees, interest, and similar figures. If you import a PDF, the app also keeps the original PDF file itself, so you can view it later inside the app. Keep in mind the PDF is stored whole: whatever your bank printed on it (your name, mailing address, account number, individual purchases) is inside that file, even where the app doesn't display it.
  • Transactions: dates, merchant names, amounts, and categories read from imported statements.
  • Pay-later plans: provider, merchant, amounts, and installment schedules.
  • Payments and budgets: payments you log against statements and plans, and any monthly or per-category budgets you set.
  • Settings and profile: your display name (if you set one), chosen theme, currency, reminder preferences, and whether the Face ID lock is on.
  • Housekeeping records: items sitting in Recently Deleted during their 30-day window, and the record of which terms version you accepted and when.

None of this is transmitted to us or to anyone else. The app contains no networking code at all, so it cannot phone home even by accident.

Statement import happens on your phone

When you import a PDF statement, the app reads it using Apple's text recognition, running entirely on your device. The PDF is not uploaded anywhere. There is no cloud OCR service involved, ours or anyone else's.

What the app sends us: nothing

We run no servers. The app makes no network connections. There are no analytics or crash-reporting tools, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party code of any kind in the app. Nothing you enter or import ever reaches us through the app, so we cannot see your financial records.

To keep that claim honest, here is what we can receive, outside the app, when you choose to reach out:

  • Support email. If you email peachbalanceapp@gmail.com, we receive your email address, your message, and anything you attach, processed through our email provider (Google's Gmail). Purpose: answering you, nothing else. We don't add you to any mailing list. Retention: we keep the exchange only as long as it's useful for helping you, and you can ask us to delete it at any time. Email providers process mail on their own infrastructure, which may be outside your province or country. Please don't email us statements or account numbers; we don't need them to help you.
  • Our website. peachbalance.iliaghp.ca is a separate thing from the app. Like nearly every website, its hosting and security providers (currently Cloudflare-based hosting) keep routine technical logs (such as IP addresses and request metadata) and may set basic cookies needed to serve and protect the site. Purpose: operating and securing the site, nothing else. Those logs live on the providers' infrastructure, which may be outside your province or country, and are kept for the short periods those providers use for security logs. The website has no accounts and no marketing trackers from us.
  • Apple's statistics. Apple provides us with the ordinary aggregated App Store statistics every developer gets (download counts and, only for users who opted in to sharing analytics with developers, aggregated crash and usage data). Those come from Apple under Apple's own privacy policy and contain nothing from inside the app's data.

Widgets

If you add a PeachBalance widget to your home screen, the app shares a small summary with the widget: total owed, card and plan names, amounts, due dates, your overall credit utilization, and how many cards and plans you have. This sharing happens inside your device, through Apple's standard app-group mechanism. It never leaves the phone.

Notifications

Payment and statement reminders are local notifications, scheduled and delivered by iOS on your device. No notification server is involved.

Face ID and Touch ID

If you turn on the app lock, unlocking is handled entirely by iOS. The app only learns whether the unlock succeeded. It never sees your face, fingerprint, or any biometric data. Apple's own security design keeps that data on your device, inaccessible to apps.

Backups

Your device's normal backup (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) will usually include PeachBalance's data, the same way it includes data from your other apps. Those backups are created by you and Apple under your Apple account and Apple's terms; we have no access to them. If you'd rather your backup not include this app, you can exclude it in iOS Settings.

The app also has its own export and backup features (CSV or JSON files). These only run when you tap them, and the file goes wherever you choose to send it: Files, AirDrop, email, anywhere. One detail worth knowing: exports and backups contain your entered and parsed data, but not the original statement PDFs, so keep the PDFs themselves if you need them. Once you share an exported file, its safety is in your hands. Treat it like the financial document it is.

How long data is kept, and how to delete it

You are in control, because it's your device:

  • Deleting a card or plan moves it to Recently Deleted, where it can be restored for 30 days. Once the 30 days are up, the app permanently deletes it the next time you open the app. "Delete forever" skips the wait.
  • Deleting the app from your phone deletes everything the app itself stores. It does not reach into copies that live elsewhere: exports and backup files you created stay wherever you saved them until you delete them, and your device backups remain governed by Apple and you.
  • On our side there is nothing from the app to delete, because the app never sends us anything. Support emails are the one exception: ask, and we delete the exchange.

Security

Your data is protected by iOS's built-in file protection, your device passcode, and optionally the app's Face ID lock. A few things we want to be upfront about:

  • The app lock uses Apple's standard authentication, which means Face ID or Touch ID with your device passcode as fallback. Anyone who knows your device passcode can get past the app lock.
  • The app does not add its own encryption layer on top of what iOS provides. The strongest thing protecting your data is the same thing protecting everything else on your phone: your passcode and Apple's device security. Anyone who can unlock your phone and your backups could reach this data, so a strong passcode matters.
  • If you add a PeachBalance widget, its summary (amounts and due dates) is visible on your home screen without unlocking the app. Remove the widget if you'd rather not show that.
  • Reminder notifications can show card names and amounts on your lock screen. You can hide notification previews in iOS Settings, under Notifications, Show Previews.

If we ever became aware of a security problem in the app itself, we would fix it and describe it in the update notes.

Your rights

Privacy laws in Canada (PIPEDA and Quebec's Law 25), the EU and UK (GDPR), and several US states give you rights over personal data an organization holds about you: access, correction, deletion, portability, and others.

Here's the situation for your financial data: we never receive it, so there is nothing we could look up, hand over, correct, or delete. Every one of those rights is something you can exercise yourself, directly in the app. You can view your data any time, correct it by editing, export it (that's portability), and delete it permanently. This isn't a dodge; it's the design.

For the little we do process (support emails, and website logs held by our providers), the same rights apply the ordinary way: email us and we will tell you what we have about you, correct it, or delete it, subject to what our providers make possible.

If you believe we're wrong about any of this, or you have any privacy question, contact us at peachbalanceapp@gmail.com. You also always have the right to complain to your privacy regulator: in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (or the Commission d'accès à l'information in Quebec); in the EU/UK, your local data protection authority; in the US, your state attorney general.

We do not sell, share, rent, or trade personal information, full stop. The only personal information we hold ourselves is what you send us by email, and we share it with no one beyond the providers named above that carry it.

Children

PeachBalance is a credit and statement tracker, aimed at adults who have credit cards. It is not directed at children, and since the app collects nothing, it collects nothing from children either.

Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices ever change (say, a future feature adds optional sync), we will update this policy, change the version number and date at the top, and make the change obvious in the app before it applies to you. We won't quietly turn a "we collect nothing" app into something else.
